Wrongful Promotion: Ekiti to sanction 45 workers
The Ekiti Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), says it may sanction 45 officers, who benefitted from unmerited promotions under the past administrations
The Chairman of LGSC, Mr Aderemi Ajayi, announced this in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday while speaking with journalists.
“It is so embarrassing that these workers most of whom are school certificate holders, who ordinarily should not be promoted beyond level 07, wriggled there ways to level 14.
“Some even manipulated two cadres, moving from Store Keeping and Accounting Cadres, just to get platform for promotion beyond the statutorily recognised level 07.’’
“The immediate past government detected all these absurdities but lacked the political will to effect the needed changes,’’ he said.
On whether the affected workers would be compelled to make refunds, Ajayi said that decision had not been taken.
“No decision had been reached on this. But if the law is to be applied, the law says any money wrongly collected by workers should be refunded but do not forget that this government has a human face.”
He said graduates among the affected workers, who were promoted beyond the deserved positions had accepted to revert to the levels they ought to be.
