Balogun Targets Gold In Judo
Lagos State Judoka, Gideon Balogun says he will win a gold medal in the Judo event of the forthcoming National Sports Festival billed for November in Lagos.
Balogun, who won a gold medal for Yaba Local Council Development Area, LCDA at the last Lagos State Sports Festival tagged “IBILE Games,” said that having won a silver in the previous editions of the National Sports Festival held in Kaduna and Rivers State, his time has come to win a gold medal for the host state come November.
“Having won a silver medal for Lagos in two National Sports Festivals, I am not targeting anything less than gold in this year’s event. I will be sad if I fail to win a gold medal in Judo, and I must say that my fans believe in what I can do,” he said.
Balogun boasted that nobody can stop him from winning a gold medal because his performance in the last National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt and IBILE Games, showed that he is at his best now. Balogun has however told judokas from other states to forget about the gold medal in the judo event of the festival.
On his recent performance at the just concluded IBILE Games, Balogun who will compete in the 90kg for Lagos at Eko 2012, said winning a gold at the IBILE Games was a dream come true.
