Nigeria’s Northern governors parley on security
Disturbed by the current security challenges confronting the region, the Northern States Governors Forum has fixed an emergency meeting of the body for July 26.
The forum’s chairman and Niger State Governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu, said on Monday in Minna that Northern Governors were determined to end the violence that had led to loss of lives and property.
A statement by Aliyu’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Danladi Ndayebo, said the meeting, holding in Abuja would recommend ways to make normalcy to return to the region.
The statement said that secretaries to the governments of the 19 Northern states would accompany their principals to the meeting.
Northern Nigeria has been the theatre of bombings,gun violence and ethnic and religious cleansing, with over 1000 people killed by Boko haram sect alone.
