It was a “gathering of champions” as Airtel brought together the best performers in all its area of operation in the country to share insight and to commend them for their performance in the last business year.
The one-day seminar sought to enlighten the distributors, share knowledge and insight on the business with them as well as harness their thoughts on how to improve the business.
At the event, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Rajan Swaroop, took the trade partners on a journey through the “Global Telecommunications Trend,” in which he spoke of the likely direction the business of telecommunications could flow in the coming days. He explained that sharing the insights is part of the ways “Airtel is empowering trade partners to be set for the future so as to make the most of opportunities that evolve.”
Airtel followed this path, according to the CEO, because it believed that “informed partners would be empowered to be of great help in our journey to deliver quality of service that would help us attain our goal of becoming the most loved brand in Nigeria by 2015”.
Airtel Nigeria Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Deepak Srivastava, charged the partners to forget the past and focus on the future in his presentation on “Our Journey.” He disclosed that Airtel has made significant investments in the last two years that have doubled its cell sites in Nigeria.
Motivational speaker, Fela Durotoye, was on hand to deliver nuggets to inspire the partners to aim at building institutions instead of mere organisations or enterprises. “Businesses that want to progress from small to big institutions,” Durotoye said, “have to de-emphasise individualism and focus on collectivism, in addition to being consistently competitive.”
Immediately after the conference, Airtel held an awards event to honour its channel partners. At the award ceremony, the company gave its channel partners 12 Sports Utility Vehicles, millions in cash prizes, refrigerators, motorcycles, laptops and printers, LED TVs and home theatre systems.
Winners emerged in 13 different categories. Mr Nwabueze Nwachukwu of C & N Abuson Investments Limited won the CEO’s National Champion Award.
