Woman Jailed 150 Days
An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court on Monday, sentenced mother of one, Maimuna Al-Hassan, 20, of Angwa Beri Beri, Life Camp, Abuja to 150 days in prison, for conspiracy and causing injury.
Prosecutor, Simon Emmanuel, told the court that Awwalu Muhammad of Kado village, FCT, reported the case to the Life Camp Police Station on July 12.
Emmanuel said that on the said date, the convict took seven boys, now at large, to the complainant’s house and beat him up, after a misunderstanding.
The prosecutor said that the boys used a cutlass on the complainant, and as a result, he sustained a deep cut on his head.
He added that in the process, the complainant’s Nokia phone, valued at N7,000 and another N22,000 cash got missing and that the acts contravened sections 79 and 245 of the Penal Code.
He said that the complainant was taken to the hospital, where he also spent N7,000 on medical treatment.
The convict pleaded guilty, and said, “I am pleading for mercy, I am a widow and mother of one”.
Senior Magistrate Abdullahi Ilelah said that the convict should be punished to serve as a lesson to the entire public.
Ilelah thus sentenced the convict to 150 days in prison with an option of N5,000 fine.
