2 Remanded For Key Theft

Two Nigerians working in a  Chinese company in Lagos State have been charged before a Lagos Court on the allegation that they stole company key worth N1,200 and consequently remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The duo, Olalekan Ogunyemi, 38, and Jamiu Olalekan, 25, who were staff of Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, were arraigned for allegedly stealing a spare key belonging to the company worth the amount.

The incident happened at the company site  located at Obadarun on the outskirts of Lagos.

They were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri when they could not fulfil their bail conditions.

Crime Watch gathered from the defendants that the allegation was levelled against them and they were  denied their salary and the company insisted that they must face criminal charge for the alleged offence which the defendants denied.

The matter was reported at Igando Police Station where the suspects were arrested and charged to court.

The police arraigned them on a three-count charge of attempt to break and steal under sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

They pleaded not guilty. The presiding Magistrate, Mr. O. A.  Komolafe, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till 13 August,  2012.
