Former Manchester United legend, Dwight Yorke, has said that the former English League champions have been reaping from their deal with Nigerian telecommunications company, Globacom.

Yorke said at the launch and unveiling of the new Glo Man United mobile portal, manutd.gloworld.com held in Lagos yesterday that Glo’s technology has brought fans of the Red Devils closer to their darling club through the deal.

According to Yorke, Glo-Man Utd mobisite will encourage and inspire upcoming footballers in the country.

“Glo has done what has never been done in this part of the world. Five years ago, this would not have been possible; and it shows how much technology has brought fans closer to players,” he said.

Globacom’s Sales Director, Mike Sidwell, said the site is an entertainment cum informative site which provides a mobile point of convergence on the Glo network for fans and football lovers at large.

Throwing more light on how subscribers can access the site, Globacom’s Head of Value Added Services, Samson Isa, said subscribers can log on to the site through www.gloworld.com from where they can then navigate to the portal. “The subscribers could also log on directly to the portal by keying in www.manutd.gloworld.com on their mobile phones,” he said.
