Police Kill 3 Robbers, Recover 2 bikes, Pistol

A police patrol team from Satellite Police Station, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has killed three armed robbers operating on two motorcycles in Satellite Town.

The robbers allegedly trailed a man identified as Balogun Asako to Satellite Town  from Zenith Bank, Abule Ado, where he had gone to withdraw money. The armed robbers were said to have dispossessed man of the money before the arrival of the police who engaged them in a gun duel.

Crime watch learnt that during the encounter, three of the robbers were killed while others escaped with bullet wounds.

According to the DSP Ngozi C. Braide, Lagos PPRO, items recovered from the dead robbers include two motorcycles, a Berreta pistol with serial number 1963 loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.

The police image maker stated that efforts were on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang, promising that the suspects will soon be arrested.

Braide said a police patrol team from Layeni Division on stop-and-search operation at Alaba Suru black spot arrested a man with a locally made pistol in a Volkswagen Passat saloon car.

She added that the suspect with others now at large, robbed a driver identified as Thomas Adeodein Sosomeji of the said car at Soyemi area along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway before he was intercepted by the police team, adding that the case has been transferred to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba.
