Gun men believed to be members of the Boko Haram sect have shot dead an orderly to a Nigerian air force officer and his driver, on the outskirts of Kano.

The assailants were on motor-cycle when they attacked the two men, at an area called Yan-Lemo today.

Air Commodore Sani Ahmed, a spokesman for the air force confirmed the attack and said a probe has begun.

He also clarified that the officer was not in the car at the time of the attack.

“A car of one of our officers came under attack this morning,” Air Commodore Sani Ahmed said.
