Gunmen on auto bike attack Nigeria's VP house

Unidentified gunmen today attacked the family house of Nigeria’s Vice President Namadi Sambo at Tudun-Wada , Zaria.

The attack which occurred around 11 a.m today left a shoemaker dead.

A policeman guarding the house was also injured.

The house which was attacked last year in the post poll violence that erupted after Nigeria’s presidential election, was still under construction.

A witness told P.M.News that the gunmen who were on motorcycle rode close to the house and opened fire on the securitymen guarding the house and the shoemaker working close to the house.

The Police Public Relations Officer , Aminu Lawan who confirmed the incident to P.M.News this afternoon said the gunmen attacked the Vice President’s family residence and killed one person and shot a police officer guarding the house in the leg.

However, Lawan said the police have deployed policemen to the area to maintain law and order as well as peace.

A series of attacks by men on motor-cycles has been reported in the last 24 hours in Northern Nigeria, with four persons killed in Kano, the commercial capital of the North.
