Rockford College Win Adefuye Volleyball Tourney
After Rockford College Secondary School emerged the champions of the maiden edition of Senator Anthony Adefuye Secondary School Volleyball competition in both male and female categories, chief coach of the school, Amata said the victories were well deserved.
In the final of the male’s category, Rockford College defeated United Christian Secondary School, Apapa in the best of five, which ended 3-2 in favour of Rockford College at the Volleyball court, Rowe Park, Yaba on Saturday. Rockford College female team humbled Command Day Secondary School, Ikeja 3-1 to emerge the winner in the female category.
Amata who was elated with the victories told P.M.NewsSports that he was not surprised with the achievement of his players because they prepared very well for the competition.
“It was a good outing for us. We prepared very well and we got the results at the end of the day. Our dream was to win the tournament and it came to pass,’ he said.
Christian United School Coach, Taiwo Kool commended his school for putting up a good fight against Rockford College but admitted that they lost to a better side.
Chairman of Lagos State Volleyball Association, Owolabi Martins expressed satisfaction with the success of the competition, adding that the association discovered 20 boys and eight girls who they would groom for future competitions.
