1 Die In Alapere Over Land Feud
At least one person has been killed at Ajelogo, Alapere, Kosofe Local Government area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, as sporadic clashes over a government land worsen in the area.
The Lagos State Government had on 7 March 2010 demolished some shanties at Ajelogo area which had become a slum and hideout for miscreants and criminals.
However, the miscreants from two factions seem to have returned to the area and are now selling and leasing plots of land to people.
On Tuesday clashes erupted among the miscreants over control of the government land, leaving Mr. Goodluck Sunday dead. The Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Mrs. Ngozi Braide, said: “We arrested two persons and they will soon be charged with murder. We are also patrolling the place,” Braide told P.M.NEWS on telephone today. The suspects include Balogun Sule and Rafiu.
