Ex-Stores’ Star, Okoli Goes Home
Former player of the defunct Stationery Stores of Lagos, Nicolas Okoli, will be buried tomorrow in his home town, Owerri, Imo State.
Okoli, who also played for the defunct Udoji United died of typhoid fever last Wednesday at his residence in Ikotun, Lagos.
Commenting on Okoli’s demise, his former teammate at Stores, Taiwo Oloyede, told P.M.News Sports that the death of their colleague came as a rude shock to him. He said Nigeria has lost another legend in the football fraternity.
Oloyede, who also played for Julius Berger FC, described Okoli as a very humble and hardworking player during their days at Stores.
“Okoli was my good friend and teammate at Stores in the 80s. I was surprised to hear that he is no more, may his soul rest in peace,” Oloyede said.
