Driver Murdered By Wife's Lover

A driver in Calabar, Cross River State capital, southsouth Nigeria, Mr. Effiom James Usor, has allegedly been murdered by his wife’s lover and neighbour, Mfon Ekpo.

P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that Usor and his alleged killer reside at Bayside, Calabar.

Usor and Ekpo were close friends but a fight ensued over allegation that Usor’s wife was having an affair with Ekpo.

It was alleged that Usor, a truck driver, usually travelled out of Calabar and his friend, Ekpo was always visited his home between 12 and 5 a.m to engage his friend’s wife in sexual intercourse.

A co-tenant, Emmanuel Nkeru reported Usor’s wife’s infidelity to her husband and when Usor confronted his wife, she allegedly confessed that each time her husband travelled, Ekpo was always came to have sex with her.

Mrs. Patricia Usor was reported to have confessed to her husband that his friend, Ekpo not only satisfied her sexually, he always gave her money which she used to buy some of her needs.

Angered by the wife’s confession that his friend was having sex with her on their matrimonial bed, the late Usor took out his mattress and bedding and set them on fire, claiming it was an abomination for him to have sex again with his wife on the same bed.

Ironically, the three principal actors in the sex drama, Usor, Ekpo and Patricia who are all from Oron in Akwa Ibom State, took the matter to the Oron Community meeting in Calabar, the Oron Development Union where they are all members, in expectation that the matter would be resolved amicably.

The union found Ekpo guilty and to appease Usor and the union, he was asked to pay a fine of N200,000 which he claimed he could not afford and pleaded with Usor that he could afford N15,000 only. This infuriated Usor who described it as an insult. And a quarrel ensued between the two friends.

During the fight, Ekpo’s son Ati allegedly came to assist his father and started raining blows on Usor who eventually collapsed. When he was rushed to a hospital, he was confirmed dead by doctors. He was said to have suffered from internal bleeding.

His corpse was deposited in the mortuary of the General Hospital, Calabar.

Mr. Joseph Inuyashe, DSP, the Investigation Police Officer, IPO, in the case said Ati has been arrested along with his father, Ekpo, and that he was convinced that Ekpo may have conspired with his son to eliminate Usor to enable him take his wife, Patricia.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for the Cross River Police Command, DSP John Umoh, confirmed the story, adding that Ekpo and his son would be charged to court soon for manslaughter.
