Ojudu: The true story of Ekiti ACN Senatorial Primary
Ojudu said his stance had been to keep quiet since he and Bamidele, apart from being members of the same party, are also brothers, but that he was woken up Thursday by a barrage of calls from people regarding the issue Bamidele spoke about in an interview he granted recently.
He said he felt compelled to set the record straight for the purpose of history and posterity.
In a statement by his media aide, Mr. ‘Dimeji Daniels, Ojudu referred to the interview granted by Bamidele in Lagos and was published by Vanguard newspaper and the story version in the 3 August, 2012 edition of The Nation newspaper captioned “I’ve represented my people well, says Ekiti lawmaker” where the House of Representatives member claimed to have won the January 2011 senatorial primary of the ACN in Ekiti Central.
Ojudu said he felt that for the sake of members of the public who might have been misled, the facts had to be laid bare, as constant repetition of this claim by Bamidele could make it appear like the truth.
He explained that there was no clear winner in the primaries before the Ekiti State Chairman of the ACN, High Chief Jide Awe, cancelled the primaries owing to some irregularities, part of which was the non-availability of voting materials at some voting centres by 5 pm.
Ojudu said it was funny that Senator Bode Ola is also claiming to have won the primary and is still at the Supreme Court to challenge the party’s decision to give the Ekiti Central senatorial ticket to him.
He urged Bamidele, in the spirit of brotherhood, to always allow unity of purpose be his guiding principle.
