Redeemed Church Retires 3 Elders

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has retired elders of the church. The retirees were honoured at the service that climaxed the end of this year’s convention Ministers’ Conference of the church on Sunday.

The retirees were Pastors Oluwalogbon, Akintola and Adenuga. In a short ceremony, the General Overseer of the church Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye thanked the retirees for their meritorious service to God through the church.

He gave each of them certificate of fruitful service and other undisclosed gifts.

Meanwhile, the church has ordained over 6000 Deacons and Deaconesses in a ceremony marking the beginning of the 60th annual convention of the church.

The church will equally ordain over 2000 as Assistant Pastors on Tuesday while 715 will be ordained full Pastor on Sunday, when the convention will be ending.

Pastor Adeboye disclosed this on Sunday. The theme of this year’s diamond convention is ‘Come Up Higher.’

The man of God also gave the report of the church’s Governing Council to over 50,000 ministers present at the service.

Among the decisions of the council was that, ‘any minister who had committed stealing or (and) adultery, if such minister is ready to confess the sin to the church authorities before the end of August, the punishment for such minister will not be severe’ compared to when the church finds out after the expiration of the month of grace.

The reason such minister will be treated with leniency, according to Adeboye, was because of the year of jubilee of the church.

A reference was made to a pastor, whose name the General Overseer did not mention. He said: “the pastor wrote to the authority to confess to the sin of adultery, after which the council treated his case with leniency.”

Another important decision of the council, according to ‘Daddy G O’, as he is fondly called by the faithful, was that whoever wants to join the RCCG from other churches is welcome provided such a person can go through the water baptism class of the church. The reason for this according to him, is to acquaint the person with the doctrine of the church

The Redeemed Christian Church of God was established in 1952 by the founder, Rev Josiah Oluwafemi Akindayomi who led the church till November 1980 when he went to be with the Lord.

Pastor Adeboye took up the mantle of leadership in 1981 and since then, God has been taking the church from one level of glory to another.
