Fortuner, Camry On Roller coaster
When almost all the major auto dealers have consistently refused to declare their actual imports, top management staff of Toyota Nigeria Limited, Kunle Ade-Ojo (Executive Director), Andrew Ajuyah (Head of Marketing), Bukunola Ogunnusi (Adverts/public Relations Manager), and C. K. Thampy (Managing Director), have declared an impressive vehicle imports of over 10,000 units out of more than the estimated 24,000 units that entered into the country through the legitimate ports of entry.
The Japanese brand emerged the envy of other competing brands in 2011 with a declaration of 19,000 units as the sales figure in Nigeria, representing 33 per cent share of the entire local market.
According to Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, CEO, Toyota Nigeria Limited, “2011 for instance was a year to be always remembered considering some memorable socio-economic occurrences both locally and abroad looking at the trajectory of earthquake-triggered tsunami that wiped away part of Japan, the major source of Toyota supplies”.
Now in 2012, the Managing Director, C. K. Thampy, said the disaster has been overcome as production and supply levels have returned to normal. On market performance of some models, Head of Marketing, Andew Ajuyah, expressed satisfaction that the Camry sedan is picking up fast while the Fortuner SUV is coasting ahead gradually. For the Toyota Avanza, Ajuyah stressed that at the moment, signs of its market looking upwards are bright.
