Isekolowo Cup: Quadri Street Sweep Awards In Final

The football team of Quadri Street proved themselves as the real champions of the maiden edition of Idiagbon Street Soccer Championship, tagged Isekolowo Cup.

They won many of the awards in the final of the competition, played at the playground of Teachers Training College, Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos State last Sunday.

Apart from winning the tournament, sponsored by Councilor Ward B in Ifako Ijaye Local Government, Miss  Abisola Fadayomi, by beating Durosinmi Street, 3-2 via penalty shootout after the game ended in barren draw in regulation time, Quadri Street won three of the six individual awards of the tournament.

The Most Valuable Player, MVP, award of the competition was won by Quadri Street’s Mutiu Owolanke, while the Highest Goal Scorer and Best Defender awards went to Mutiu Sodiq Mathew, who scored three goals and Abdullahi Olagoke of Quadri Street respectively.

Other awards in the final went to Victor Friday of Adeeko Street, who won an award for the Youngest Player to have scored a goal in the tournament. Durosinmi Street’s Victor Theophilus won the Best Goal award with his goal against Adeeko Street, while the Best Goalkeeper award of the tournament went to Agodo  Isaleoro also of Durosinmi Street.

Coordinator of the championship, Lanre Arogundade described the first edition of the Isekolowo Cup as a success, judging from the standard of play and the enthusiasm showed by residents of Idiagbon community.

He said the residents of the area were at the venue to watch all the matches played since tourney began on 8 July.
