N3m Up For Grabs At Ajomale Cup

Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Lagos chapter, Chief Henry Ajomale has donated the sum of N3million as prize money for the U-15 Ajomale football competition, which kicks off on 25 August at the Oke Afa Jakande Estate football pitch, Ejigbo, Lagos, Adebobola Alawode reports.

Thirty two teams will take part in the competition that will last for two months. The eventual winners will go home with the sum of N1million and a giant trophy, the first runners up will go home with N750,000, while the team that finish third and fourth positions will receive N500,000  and N250,000 respectively.

Ajomale told journalists in Lagos that sponsoring the tournament was borne out of passion he has for the round leather game, and urged well meaning individuals and corporate bodies in Nigeria to contribute their own quota to the development of football in the state.

“I observed that football is a unifying force that brings stability, peace, emotional upliftment, joy and unity to the Nigerian youths. I believe that the prize money will go a long way in making all the teams  to give their best throughout the tournament,” he said.

He stated that football can develop in Nigeria if there is regular developmental programme in place that will discover talents for future championships.

“I pray that this second edition will further expose young talents from the nooks and crannies of the state. I also expect a hitch free competition and I am looking forward to a competition that will make Nigerian youths more useful to the nation,” he said.

Match Coordinator, Ganiu Aliu  who was satisfied with the cup donor kind gesture urged the players to remain a good ambassador of their clubs saying that any player violate the laws during the game will be punished .
