Airtel Subscribers Base Hit 20Million
The management of Airtel Nigeria says its active subscriber base has increased from 15.5 million to 20 million.
Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rajan Swaroop, disclosed that the company invested $1.2 billion on its operation during the period.
He added that the company was able to deploy the largest 3.75G network in Africa during the period.
According to him, Airtel Nigeria doubled the number of sites in the country with nearly 3000 3.75G sites launched and presence in more than 75 towns and cities and the deployment of a 535km fibre last year with 2,070km ongoing.
With 31 per cent increase in sub bases and commissioning of a world-class data centre since acquisition in 2010, he said traffic on the network had increased by 124 per cent.
He said with the current infrastructure, Airtel can double its customer base without congestion while its customers are enjoying best Internet experience.
