Blue chips rally at Nigeria Stock Exchange

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed upbeat on Friday as shares of some highly capitalised companies recorded significant gains.

The All-Share Index appreciated by 0.25 per cent to close at 23,239.02 points as against 23,178.86 points recorded on Thursday.

The Market Capitalisation of listed securities grew by N19 billion to close at N7.40 trillion compared with N7.377 trillion posted on Thursday.

Mobil led the gainers chart with N3.49 to close at N116.49 per share.

Flour Mill followed with N2 to close at N52 per share while Nigerian Breweries share price appreciated by N1.50 to close at N119 per share.

Dangote Cement also rose by N1 to close at N115 per share, while Union Bank of Nigeria chalked up 23 kobo to close at N4.88 per share.

On the other hand, NewGold led the losers’ chart with N34 to close at N2,490 per unit

UACN share price dropped by 88K to close at N33.52 per share while Arbico lost 82k to close at N15.61 per share.

PZCussons dipped by 62k to close at N24.07 per share while Berger Paints lost 38k to close at N7.29 per share.

Overall, 192.69 million shares worth N1.5 billion were traded in 3,408 deals compared with 429.57 million shares traded on Thursday in 3,821 deals.
