Brawl Over N50 Lands 3 Men Community Service
An Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court has sentenced three men, Anthony Awaye, Saka Sikiru and Shina Akinyelore to 50 hours of community service for engaging in street brawl capable of harming other members of the public.
P.M.NEWS findings revealed that the three men engaged fought one another at Ogolonto Bus/Stop, Ikorodu, at about 4:20pm on Wednesday, 1 August, 2012 over N50.
P.M.NEWS sources revealed that “the three of them are very good friends who were often joking at the park. On that fateful day, they were also playing in their usual manner before it suddenly turned out to be a serious case.
“We even tried to settle the quarrel amicably but failed. it is quite unfortunate that these family men had to face this punishment because of an argument over just N50.”
The men pleaded guilty to the charge as it was read to them and they were each sentenced to 50 hours of community service by the presiding Magistrate.
The men who were all members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW were asked to get their executives to stick out their necks for their erring members to assure the court that they would serve their punishment.
