Man Arrested For Robbery

A young man of about 30 years was arrested while allegedly  trying to rob a woman in her shop in the early hours of yesterday at Ajara Vetho in Badagry, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

According to the victim who identified herself as Mrs Modupe Shokore of 29, Podo Street, Ajara, the suspect allegedly forced his way into her shop while she was displaying her wares ready for the day’s business and demanded money from her.

As he forcefully collected the previous day’s proceeds to run away,  she raised the alarm which attracted the attention of neighbours who chased and caught him.

When he was arrested, the sum of N13,055 was rcovered from him.

The crowd that had gathered beat him blue black before dragging him to Ajara Police Post.

The suspect, who refused to disclose his name as he was groaning in pains, managed to whisper that he is from Rivers State.

He was later transferred to Badagry Police Station. The police said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
