Lagos PPRO Warns Okada Riders
Worried by the incessant reports of robberies involving motorcycle operators in Lagos State, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ngozi Braide(DSP), has warned Okada riders against violating the rules and guidelines on their operations.
Speaking with P.M.News in a telephone chat, Braide said there were many reports of armed robbery involving Okada riders and reports of flagrant violation of existing guidelines on the operations of okada have flooded her office.
She noted with regret that okada riders often constitute a hurdle to policemen’s performance of their duties.
Braide mentioned some okada riders’ sins to include operating without riders’ card, riding bikes without number plates, helmets and operating beyond the time stipulated in certain areas.
She urged Okada riders to cooperate with the police in their efforts to ensure a crime free Lagos, adding that enough security measures have been put in place to check the excesses of okada riders. The command will not sleep until Lagos state is kept as peaceful as sleeping baby.
