Niger vs Nigeria: Keshi Desperate For Victory
Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has charged his team not to see today’s match against the Menas of Niger as a friendly tie, but a game they must win.
Keshi said: “We have been in this revival of our country’s team together, so all I’m expecting from you is to play the match against Niger Republic with the mentality to win.
“I want victory and I know that a good result in today’s match will be a big boost to our preparation for the Nations Cup qualifier against Liberia next month.”
Officials of Federation Niger Du Football, FENIFOOT, are also taken the game against the Eagles more than a friendly, because eight foreign-based players will feature in the encounter.
“We like Nigeria but this is a game of football and friendship is out of it, because we don’t want to lose to Nigeria”, he said.
Meanwhile, Globacom has advised the Eagles to re-invent their legendary might by coming out victorious in the match.
The company urged the team to work towards defeating the Menas on their home soil in Niamey, adding that the team need to start building their way back to reckoning in African Football.
“It is important to go for victory in this encounter to help the team gain confidence ahead of the crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia scheduled to hold in Monrovia in September,” Glo said.
Globacom also exhorted the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to ensure that more matches are organised by the team ahead of major competitions.
