Son Batters Father Over Money

A 30-year old man, Uagbale Samson, has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, for allegedly beating up his father, Uagbale Lawrence, to a pulp and taking away the old man’s money.

He was docked on a two-count charge of assault and stealing.

The incident happened at 511 Road, B Close, House 15, Festac Town, Lagos.

P.M.NEWS learnt that Samson displayed his boxing prowess against his father when he demanded an undisclosed amount of money from him and the old man did not give him.  He reportedly grabbed him inside his bed room, rained blows on him until he  knocked him down.

Thereafter, he went where he kept his money and collected N50,000 and went away.

The old man suffered injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he is being treated.

The matter was reported at Festac Police division and Samson was arrested.

He was  charged to court for assault and stealing punishable under sections 306, 285 and 171 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. K. Shonubi granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa . His mother later bailed him.  The matter has been adjourned till 18 September,  2012 for mention.
