Sallah: Lawmakers, Council Seek Nigeria’s Unity, Pray For Gawat’s Return
Muslims in the country have been advised to use the end of the Ramadan period for sober reflection and continue to work for the unity of the country and peaceful co-existence among the country’s ethnic groups.
Member of the House of Representatives for Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2, Hakeem Abiodun Muniru; Wahab Alawiye-King and Mudasiru Obasa of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Chairman of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Adeyemi Alli, gave the advice in their sallah messages to Muslims as they prepare to mark the end of the fasting period.
They advised that the Ramadan having come and gone, Muslims should not forget or abandon the lessons therein, one of which is sharing of love among each other. This, they contented, is essential for the growth and peace of the country at this critical period in its history.
According to Muniru, “we have to give thanks to Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity to see the end of Ramadan. While wishing my Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Eid-el-Fitri celebration, I want to advise that we should not forget or abandon the lessons inherent in it one of which is sharing of love among each other which is important for us in this country now”.
For Alawiye-King, the Ramadan afforded Muslims the opportunity to move closer to Allah, advising that, “while we are happy to see the end of Ramadan, celebrating Eid-el-Fitri and praying to Allah to enable us witness more of it, we should continue to pray and work for the unity of this country and our peaceful co-existence”.
Obasa, who represents Agege State Constituency 1 in the state Assembly, called on Muslims to continue to pray for Nigeria.
“I want to wish Muslims in the country happy Eid-el-Fitri celebration and I pray that we witness more of such celebrations in our lifetime. However, while celebrating, I want to advise that we should not forget to continue to say and do things that will continue to enhance the unity of this country. We are at a critical period of our political life and we should continue to promote the unity of the country through our utterances and actions,” Obasa said.
Alli said: “Happy Eid-el-Fitri celebration to our Muslim brothers and sisters. Insha Allah we will witness more of it. However, we should not forget the lessons we learnt from this holy month. Most important is the unity of this country which we should all uphold through our actions and utterances”.
They all prayed for the safe return of missing Islamic television presenter, Alhaji Rasak Aremu Gawat, urging Nigerians especially Muslims not to relent in their prayers for the missing presenter and his family.
