Moslem Clerics Warn On Boko Haram
Moslem leaders in Agege and Alimosho areas of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have sent strong warning to anybody or group of persons with plans to cause security breach in the areas.
Speaking to P.M.NEWS on Sallah day, Islamic clerics from Ogba Ashade Central Mosque, the Hausa Community Central Mosque in Moshalashi, Alhaja area and their counterparts from Alimosho Local Government Area, warned that any attempt to perpetrate the evil of Boko Haram sect in their areas shall be resisted.The Chief Imam of Ogba Ashade Central Mosque, Alhaji R. Salaudeen Meta noted that the activities of Boko Haram are anti-Islam and anybody involved in their act is also anti-Islam.
“There is nothing like Boko Haram in Islam. It is the concoction of selfish group who are fighting for their own selfish goals,” he said.
Meta reminded the sect that “Islam is a religion of peace and anybody who misinterprets the goodwill of the Holy Quran is an enemy of Islam and also an enemy of Almighty Allah.”
He also stated that it is only God who has the right to take lives and anybody who claims to be fighting for God is only deceiving himself.
In the same vein, Alhaji Mohammed Ali Keila, the Chief Imam of Alimosho LGA said: “The activities of Boko Haram, are evil in the sight of Allah and Islam will never promote it. Therefore, anybody who wants to be part of Boko Haram is advised to desist from it before it is too late.
“Our people are very united and we do not want anybody to come in to disintegrate them,” he warned.
Alhaji Mohammed Sheriff Abdul-Majid, the Chief Imam of the Hausa Community Central Mosque in Moshalashi area of Agege who spoke through his personal assistant, Alhaji Yisa Sheriff also noted that Agege people are law-abiding and have always coexisted in good neighbourliness and therefore should resist any attempt to cause division amongst them.
“We should all continue to live in peace, understand our religion the more and always turn to the Almighty God for directions,” he advised.
Abdul-Majid also stated that the lessons of the Ramadan fasting should be a continuous exercise because it is all about love for one another, and it promotes peaceful coexistence at all times.
He said: “Moslems should understand the tenets of Islam very well and live by them always, so that they would not be misled by anyone to do evil against another person.”
The three clerics also advised the Federal Government to promote even development in the country, by establishing more schools in the educationally disadvantaged areas, provide gainful employment for the youths and be sincere with its citizens and leaders should have the fear of God.Abdul-Majid added that government should establish more avenue for prayers because nobody can succeed without God, while Alhaji Meta advised politicians to desist from inciting and using innocent youths for their selfish desires.
