Ibenegbu Eyes Trophy
Heartland of Owerri’s star, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, is upbeat that his side will defend the Federation Cup they won last year, when they confront Lobi Stars of Markudi in Sunday’s final at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Heartland defeated Prime FC 3-0 through penalty shootout in the semi final played at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Wednesday.
Ibenegbu, who was elated with the performance of his teammates against Prime FC, told P.M.News that Heartland will be crowned again come Sunday.
“We played the game of our lives against Prime FC and we are ready to go for victory against Lobi Stars on Sunday,” he said. Ibenegbu charged his teammates to play the game of their lives when they confront Lobi in Lagos. He said having reached the final, it will be a disaster for them to lose the cup.
“We cannot afford to underrate Lobi Stars. We respect our opponents but I am confident that with the support of our governor, Rochas Okorocha and the Igbo community in Lagos, we will come out victorious,” he boasted.
