Brenda, Kemi Out Of Project Fame
The duo of Brenda and Kemi have been evicted from the on-going MTN Project Fame West Africa (Season five) academy. Their eviction came barely a week after Tega and and Edward, the first set of evictees from the music competition, were shown the exit door.
During the elimination show on Saturday, Yeside Oredugba of Alexander Forbes was invited to come in with the list of contestants with the least votes. The contestants filed on stage with trepidation clearly written on their faces and one after the other, Joseph and Adora, the hosts, called out Ayo, Brenda, Sonia, Kemi, and Grace as the contestants on probation for the evening. These five contestants repeated the songs they did last weekend but this time around they performed to save themselves from elimination. After successfully pulling through the songs, the judges saved Sonia for ‘bringing on the extra factor into her performance,’ Faculty saved Ayo and Grace narrowly escaped the claws of elimination by the votes of some fellow contestants.
When asked how they felt about their elimination, Kemi said she felt a bit disappointed but at the same time proud of herself for coming this far. Brenda on the other hand appreciated the Faculty and her fans who believed in her and kept their votes coming. She decided to be strong and promised to be back soon.
A day after Brenda and Kemi had been evicted from the competition, the remaining 11 contestants dazzled with wonderful performances. Setting the pace for the evening was Joshua who did ‘Burn’ by Usher. The ease with which he moved on stage was impressive, and the judges lauded his delivery.
Didi was next, and he dramatically pulled through Bruno Mar’s ‘Grenade.’ Musulyn sang Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’, Christian performed ‘Pay Phone’ by Maroon 5, and Leona Lewis should be very impressed with Sonia’s interpretation of her ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’.
Other performances of the night are Adetoun – Anita Baker’s ‘Sweet Love,’ Ayo – Lonestar’s ‘Amazed’. Chinyere safely delivered Bette Midler’s ‘From A Distance’. Oyinkansade gave a pleasant surprise as he performed Richard Marc’s ‘Here Waiting’ and Marvellous performed Bobby Brown’s ‘Prerogative’.
After all the performances, the judges picked Adetoun, Oyinkansade and Ayo’s performances as the best, while Musulyn, Didi and Grace were tagged the weakest link for the evening. —Bayo Adetu
