Gorimapa For Burial
The remains of star actor Chief Albert Kosemani Olayemi, also known as Gorimapa and Edokpolo, will be interred on Friday, 7 September, 2012.
According to the burial arrangement released by the deceased’s first son, Albert Olayemi Junior, the funeral kicks off on Thursday, 6 September, 2012 with wake-keep at his residence, 24, Salami Ojerinde Street, Agbado Crossing, Ogun state, southwest Nigeria.
There will be lying–in-state on, Friday, 7 September, 2012 and internment holds immediately after at the same venue.
The Ilesha, Osun state-born Olayemi was a popular cast in the now rested TV serial, Village Headmaster with the sobriquet Gorimapa and a foundation member of the defunct late Ojo Ladipo (Baba Mero) Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group.
In Awada Kerikeri group, his character, a typical Urobo man, earned him the appellation Edokpolo which made him popular, courtesy of his prominent role in the hit audio drama titled Asewo To Re Mecca released by the group in the 70s.
Gorimapa, a former staff of Union Bank PLC was the CEO of a video coverage outfit called Bertola Productions situated at Akinbode Street, off Olateju Street, Mushin, Lagos, southwest Nigeria in the 80s while he was also the first host of a Yoruba language quiz programme, Ta N Mo on NTA channel 10, Lagos.
Bertola’s contemporaries include Toyin Adegbola, (Asewo To Re Mecca), Alhaji Adebayo Salami, Oga Bello and Sunday Omobolanle (MON) Aluwe among others.
He died on Friday, 24 August, 2012 at Eko Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 65. He is survived by a wife, children and grand children.
