Mimiko urges supporters to protect votes

Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Wednesday urged the electorate Governor Mimiko in the State to be vigilant by protecting their vote on Election Day from being hijacked by political thugs from the opposition parties.

Specifically, Governor Mimiko who spoke in Odigbo local government  area of the State at the continuation of his re-election campaign warned the people to also refrain from selling their voters’ cards saying that desperate politicians are now on the prowl to deprive them of their right to choose their political leaders by offering money for the cards.

Mimiko, who spoke in Odigbo local government area of the State at the continuation of his re-election campaign pleaded with the people against mortgaging their future by selling their voters cards, noted that this was one of the ploys being used by some politicians to deprive the electorate from casting their votes and for whatever reasons. He, however, assured the people that these desperados would failed in their darned plans to thwart the people’s popular wish. Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who commissioned various projects executed by the
Labour party led administration in the state.

Addressing gathering of supporters at Imorun- Lege community, Governor Mimiko said that his administration has since inception been working assiduously to alleviate the sufferings of the people of the state by executing various development projects in over 400 communities in the state in the last three and a half years.

Governor Mimiko who assured the people of the community to start work on the construction of Imorun-Lege/ Kajola road which would link the Ore-Lagos expressway as soon as the dry season sets in, explained that the road project, when completed, would add value to the economic lives of the people and also boost the economy of the state as the communities were largely food and timber producing ones.

Reacting to the agitation of the people for a Basic Health Center, Governor Mimiko assured them that a comprehensive Health center will be constructed in the community before the October 20 election.

Commissioning a basic Health center at Obadore, Governor Mimiko reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensure that the people of the state have access to good health delivery system as a means of reducing mortality rate.

Welcoming defectors from the opposition party to the Labour Party led by Major (Rtd) Akin Ogundeji, former Deputy Gubernatorial Aspirant under the umbrella of the ACN and PDP women leader in the area, Mrs. Bose Jogun, Dr Mimiko described Labour Party as the only caring hearted party that can transform the state. He enjoined the defectors to work together with the leadership of the Labour Party in the area in ensuring victory for the party in October 20 Governorship elections.

Also at Kajola, where the governor commissioned a N3.5million Divisional Police Headquarters built by his government, Governor Mimiko said that his administration would continue to make concerted effort aimed at promoting and sustaining peace in the state.

The police station, he said, would go long way in securing peoples’ lives and properties and also curb the nefarious activities of criminals and solicited for areas to collaborate with the law
enforcement agents in their efforts to check the activities of criminals.

At Oniparaga Community, the Governor also enjoined the people for their continued supports for the Labour Party in the coming election.

He stated that the transformational Agenda of the Labour Party would continue to be of benefit to the people of the state. Governor Mimiko however advised them to stay by their votes on the
election day and protect their votes from being hijacked by political thugs from the opposition parties.
