Lagos promotes 2,815 workers

The Lagos State Civil Service Commission on Tuesday announced the promotion of 2,815 workers who wrote the 2012 promotion examinations.
The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mrs Eniola Yonwuren, said that the figure represented 81 per cent of the 3,459 eligible candidates who sat for the examinations.
Yonwuren said that letters of promotion were released to successful candidates, following the approval of Gov. Babatunde Fashola.
“The commission raised the standard of the promotion examination this year with the introduction of a compulsory question on the use of english to test officers’ ability to communicate effectively,” she said.
Yonwuren said the new salary grade for the promoted officers took effect from Sept. 1, adding that the exercise was concluded within four months with the cooperation of the workers.
She said that that the examinations, held on April 14 and April 21 and were conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria and the Public Service Staff Development Centre.
