Bye election ends in Zaria

The by-election in Zaria constituency of Kaduna State House of Assembly held peacefully without complaints from voters.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), election materials were dispatched to the six wards in the constituency as early as 7 a.m. for onward distribution to polling units.

The wards are Kwarbai A, Kwarbai B, Kaura, Limanchi, Anguwan-Juma and Anguwan-Fatika.

The electoral officer of Zaria Local Government, Alhaji Hassan Lamido, told NAN that he received sufficient materials for the poll on time and distributed them.

A NAN correspondent, who went round the wards, reported that there were no complaints from the electorate, party agents and officials.

Accreditation had commenced on schedule and ended in many places on time.

Voting also began in many areas, indicating that the election was peaceful.

Rep. Shehu Garba-ABG (Kaduna North -CPC) and a member of the state House of Assembly (Doka/Gabasaw), Alhaji Haruna Inuwa of CPC expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election.

They expressed the hope that their party, CPC, would reclaim the seat, declared vacant following the death of Alhaji Mustapha Bawa of CPC in July.

The deceased had represented the area since 2007.
