Chief Coach of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, Rotimi Akinloye, has expressed the desire to see more Nigerians at this year’s Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.
The non-playing Davis Cup captain told Tennis Special from his base in Abuja that: “I would really love to see more of our players participating in the Governor’s Cup this year because this tourney is organised to help improve their skills and the country’s tennis.
“Since it’s pretty difficult for these players to bankroll their participation in international tourneys, the Governor’s Cup presents them with the opportunity to rub shoulders with their counterparts around the world.”
Akinloye also said that participating in the International Tennis Federation, ITF approved tourney like the Governor’s Cup will help them garner more experience.
“I believe that participating in the tournament will enable these players learn from their foreign counterparts and improve on their game,” he added.
