Jonathan barrages Senate with requests

President Goodluck Jonathan has forwarded to the Senate the medium term expenditure framework and fiscal strategy paper for 2013 -2015.

According to the letter which was read by Senate President David Mark, “pursuant to section 13, 12 and 11 of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, 2007, the preparation towards submission of the 2013 budget to the National Assembly has since commenced with activities leading to the preparation of 2013-2015 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.”

The president, in the correspondence sought the expeditious approval of the legislature for the expenditure framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.

The senate on Wednesday plenary session also received President Jonathan’s request on the amendments of the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Bill 2012 and a Bill for an Act to Amend the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 and for other Related Matters.

In the same vein, the president has requested the senate to confirm the ambassadorial nomination of Shuaib Ahmed Adamu representing Bauchi State and N.V. Amaku, just as he sought the Senate’s confirmation of Honorable Nnoli Nnaji as a member on the governing board of Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, to replace Jerry Ugokwe who declined the offer of the appointment.

Similarly, the appointments of Alhaji Ya’u Usman Jama’a and Barrister Aliyu Datti from Kaduna) and Niger States respectively were presented to the Senate for confirmation as members of the National Population Commission, NPC, by the President Jonathan.

Also, Jonathan has requested the senate to confirm, Alhaji Hassan Usman Sokodabo as member representing Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory in the Federal Civil Service Commission
