Sylvester Chikezie is a player of Handsworth Football Club that won last year’s Ogun State Challenge Cup. He  spoke with Grassroots Soccer Guide about his experience in Ogun FA Cup and his admiration for Kanu and Okocha

When did you start your football career?

I started my football career in 1992 when I played for Idowu Boys. I started playing for Handsowrth Football  Club in 2008. I was a member of the club that won 2011 Ogun State Challenge Cup.

Is that your first experience in State Challenge Cup?

Of course, yes. It was a good experience for me and my colleagues because nobody gave us a chance to lift the  cup until we shocked the likes of Ebiede FC in the semi final before we defeated Indomine FC in the final.

Was there a day you felt bad in your football career?

My saddest day was when we lost 4-5 to Dekina Dragon from Kogi State after barren draw at the regulation  time. I cried like a baby because our opponents were not better than us.

But your team did not go far in this year’s Ogun FA Cup, what went wrong?

We lost to bad officiating in this year’s Ogun FA Cup. Wusu FC defeated us 1-0 in the second round. Let me  say that we played against the officials.

Who is your role model among Nigerian players?

My role model is Austin Okocha and Kanu Nkwankwo.

The two players played good football. Okocha is a player I will like to emulate being a midfielder. I like  his style of play when he was playing for Super Eagles.
