Lagos Leads At Boxing Show

The Lagos team are on the verge of turning the tables against the Repton Boys Club of London as they secured an early lead in the first leg of the ongoing International Amateur Boxing Tournament which began last night at the Grand Ballroom of the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In the first bout of the night yesterday, a more technical Ohara Davis of Repton outpunched the Lagos State Sports Festival champion, Otto Joseph in the 62kg category, while Pius Godwin of Lagos torn to pieces Tom Tear of Repton in the 84kg category.

Another Sports Festival champion, Olaide Fijabi, subdued the hard-fighting Karol Ozimkowski of Repton in the 69kg category, while Abua Christian  Lagos defeated Ben Falaja of Repton in the 69kg category.

In the 73kg category, Shina John of Lagos asserted his superior power over Ryan Pickard of Repton, while Lagos’Muri Shango lost to a more skillful Umar Sadiq of Repton in the 81kg category.

Meanwhile, the grand finale will hold tomorrow at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
