Nigeria’s U-17 female side, the Flamingoes are set to take on the hosts, Azerbaijan in their second group match at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan.

The match will take place at 1p.m Nigerian time tomorrow. The coach Peter Devdebo-tutored side are desperate to improve on their performance after a not-too-impressive 1-1 draw in their first match against Canada in Baku on Saturday as they spurned a lot of scoring chances. They eventually got a goal through Ihezuo’s volley to equalise after the Canadians had taken a lead in the 63rd minute.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s match, Dedevbo said they are ready to record their first victory in Lankaran.

“We have put the match against Canada behind us and now looking forward to tomorrow’s match. I want to assure that Nigerians will see a different team, as our performance will improve as the tournament progresses” he said.

“All the teams in our group and indeed the world are good teams. There are no minnows in football anymore, but my expectation is to go past the quarter-final stage, where we were eliminated at the last World Cup.

“I and my technical crew will discuss what changes to be made to sharpen the team’s finishing,” he promised.
