The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday predicted that the ongoing flood, affecting some parts of Kogi State is likely to spread to Anambra, Delta and Bayelsa states. The Coordinator of the Abuja Operations Office of NEMA in-charge of Kogi, Mr Ishaya Isah, gave the warning today, in Lokoja, adding that awareness campaigns done in the flood devastated state of Kogi were not heeded by the people.

“Some of the people in these communities are very adamant and they tend not to move out on the grounds of tradition.

“Some even asked why they should move out when the land is their father’s land.

“The flood is likely to increase because it is still raining and this is why we need to tell the communities that are likely to be prone to this disaster in order for them to be prepared,’’ he said.

He warned that the agency was sure of any information given out, saying that people should take advantage of the information and save their lives. (NAN)
