Ariyoh Reads Riot Act To Contractors
The chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh has warned all contractors handling projects in the council area to adhere strictly to specifications.
The council boss who gave this warning during the council’s project inspection tour, added that the contractors should not extend the completion period of each of the projects.
Projects inspected during tour include rehabilitation of roads and drain construction at Owoseni Street, Adeyemi/Ogunoloko Road, Alimi-Oke link Road, Makinde junction, Olori, Mutiat, Kayode, Wuraola and Ayodele streets.
Other projects in the council inspected are Shogunle and Ewutuntun health centre, Afariogun, Ewuntuntun and Methodist primary schools where block each of four classrooms are under construction. The modern day care centre, staff canteen/neighbourhood watch building all within the council secretariat were also inspected.
The council boss who expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the various sites, appealed to residents of the local government to be law abiding and ensure that they pay their taxes regularly.
“There are still a lot of things to be done. If you get to the council secretariat, you will discover that all the offices have been given a facelift and I will not stop at that. But if there is no money, I won’t be able to do anything,” he pleaded.
Political Platform reliably gathered that the council secretariat and its environ have been given a facelift with the various offices tastefully furnished with split air conditioners and other equipment that would enhance staff performance.
The council boss has also taken steps to make all the roads within the council motorable with the ongoing rehabilitation of roads and construction of culvert and drainages.
To alleviate the suffering of the widows, N10,000 quarterly grant was provided to them while N25,000 bursary each was given to indigent students within the local government.
In the area of education, all the primary schools in the council have been provided with exercise books, sandals, school uniforms and bags, while Shogunle and Ewutuntun health centres have been equipped with modern equipment and provided with drugs.
