There are indications that tough times await music down loaders.
P.M.NEWSEntertainment learnt that music promoters, label owners, producers and others have inaugurated an anti-piracy squad that will carry out a raid on those involved in downloading musical works of Nigerian artistes, using laptops, flash drive and other things for commercial purpose.
A recent circular issued by The Nigerian Music Industry Coalition and sent to all stakeholders, empowers the Music Advertisement Association of Nigeria, MAAN, and Audio/Video CD Sellers Association of Nigeria (AVCDSAN) to conduct a street raid on digital pirates.
The president of MAAN, Alhaji Waheed Oyediran a.k.a. Mosebolatan Records confirmed this, saying “we are set to battle those downloading the music of our artistes illegally.”
Oyediran said some of the areas mapped out by the task force includes Computer village, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Alaba International Market, Mushin, Oshodi, Lagos, southwest Nigeria and other parts of the country. He told P.M.NewsEntertainment that the task force will include members of the coalition, the police and other stakeholders.
