Crisis Looms As Tokyo Tackles Ajimobi

The face-off between the estranged Chairman of the National Road Transport Worker, (NURTW), Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola alias Tokyo and the governor of the state, Mr. Abiola Ajimobi, is taking another dimension as Tokyo has issued an ultimatum to Ajimobi to reinstate him back to office or be ready for breakdown of law and order in the state.

Maintaining his earlier position that Ajimobi has betrayed him, he pointed out that he had to sell his uncompleted bungalow building at Olomi Area at N8million which he spent on the campaign of Ajimobi to win the state governorship election.

Tokyo disclosed this to P.M.NEWS in an exclusive interview in his house at Akobo Area of Ibadan, as he noted that going by the various court judgments which have mandated the state government to reinstate him back to the office, Governor Ajimobi has no option than to reinstate him as the chairman of NURTW in the state.

According to him, Ajimobi reneged on his promise that he would reinstate him back to the office if he supported him during the campaign, adding that there is nothing Ajimobi is expected to do than to implement the court judgment that order for his reinstatement.

He claimed that he has not spent a day in office since he was re-elected for the second term, which, according to him, would end in 2015 when a fresh election for a new administration is expected to take place.

His said: “If Ajimobi fails to reinstate me, there will be anarchy in the state. Right now, we have served the state government with the contempt of court. I am doing all these to avoid crisis and if the court rule now and they still refuse to obey the court order, we will go their own way and take over the parks by force.”

Tokyo berated the state government over unfaithfulness in handling the crisis of NURTW in the state, stressing that the state government is setting bad precedence in the ways it is handling NURTW crisis.

He held the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja responsible for the failure of Ajimobi to reinstate him back to office, saying that it is Senator Ladoja that threatened that he would impeach Ajimobi if he reinstates him back to office.

“I am surprised that Ajimobi allows Ladoja to control him. He told me  before he became governor that nobody including myself, can control him but with the situation now, Ladoja and many other people are controlling him,” he added.
