The maiden edition of High Grade School’s Founders Cup will take place next week Wednesday at the school playground at Santos Layout in Akowonjo, Alimosho, Lagos.
The 8-A-Side school sports championship will feature the hosts, High Grade Secondary School, Roshallom International Secondary School, Gowon Estate, St. Joseph Secondary School, Agege and Deajewell Secondary School, Gowon Estate.
Speaking ahead of the one-day event, Sports Coordinator of High Grade Secondary School, Ekeng Ekeng and the school captain, Aso Uche Kalu said that they are battle-ready to take on any opponent in the football showpiece.
“My team are fully prepared, psychologically, physically, mentally. We are not afraid of anybody because for you to be a champion you must play the best, so we are really prepared,” Ekeng declared.
Kalu said: “I don’t know about the schools that are coming, but any school that comes our way, we’ll beat them.”
On whether his team can win the competition, the skipper said: “I won’t just say yes because I don’t know about the other schools. I don’t know what they’ve been doing but for us we’ve been preparing and hopefully we’ll win the competition.’’
The school’s Principal, Onohwosafe Richard told P.M.News that all is set for the competition as both staff and students are waiting to receive their visitors on Wednesday.
“Everything is on ground especially the environment and the light refreshment that will follow,” he said.
