Students Blame Gov’s Aide Over EKSU Closure
Students of Ekiti State University, EKSU, have blamed the death of a cultist and the indefinite closure of the institution on one of the state governor’s Personal Assistants, PA (name withheld).
Some of the students who were at the scene of the incident, alleged that the said aide was trying to outsmart the deceased student.
“One of the Governor’s PAs was in the school to drop a girl when he was approached by the deceased, a highly rated member of a cult group on campus (Aiye), to ‘settle’ him since he was from the Government House but the PA refused to do so,” recalls a 100-level Business Administration student who pleaded anonymity.
“The student then sat on the bonnet of PA’s car but this did not deter the PA from moving. In fact, he simply drove off with the deceased sitting on the bonnet and this led to the accident that eventually claimed the life of the deceased. At least, if the PA had settled him, all these wouldn’t have happened,” she said.
A 400-level student of Linguistics department also berated the PA’s role in causing the whole fracas.
“The guy did not die immediately the accident happened. He died later and that was what provoked his colleagues in the cult group to start the riot. The cult group even got support from their members in other schools who came around to vandalise school properties before the governor ordered the indefinite closure of the school,” he narrated.
A similar riot by cultists took place in the school some years ago, when the rioters destroyed school properties and the school poultry plundered.
