Ohanaeze Honours Obioma Imoke
Igbo cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has bestowed on Mrs Obioma Imoke, wife of Cross River State governor, the traditional title of Ugo Nma N’digbo in Abuja.
This followed the award of the Most Impactful First Lady in Nigeria bestowed on her in the United States of America, recently.
The Ugo Nma Nd’Igbo is an award which is reserved only for outstanding Igbo daughters who have made valuable socio-economic contributions to humanity either at home or in the diaspora.
Mrs Imoke, according to Ohaneze Ndigbo, apart from distinguishing herself as an illustrious Igbo daughter, has made unique contributions towards the improvement of the lives of the people of Cross River through her various life changing projects and poverty alleviation programmes initiated in the state.
Speaking at the Award ceremony which held in Abuja recently, the Acting Chairman of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Ambassador Val Ogosi, stressed that the award was in appreciation of Mrs Imoke’s immeasurable contributions to not only the society but also to the advancement of the Igbo race.
Ogosi reiterated that the Ohaneze Ndigbo was very proud to identify with the good works of Mrs Imoke whom he said has become a source of pride to Ndigbo and a role model to many Igbo women both at home and in the Diaspora
Responding, Mrs Imoke thanked Ohaneze Ndigbo for finding her worthy for the award.
Mrs Imoke who was represented at the ceremony by the wife of the Representative of Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency of Cross River State in the House of Representatives, Mrs Rachael Owan Enoh, pledged to do more for the economic and socio-cultural advancement of Ndigbo while not relenting in her efforts at improving the welfare of the less privileged in the society.
