UNILAG basketball tourney begins

The University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos (Unilag) came alive yesterday as hostilities began at this year’s edition of Dr. D.K Olukoya basketball tourney.

The annual championship for private secondary schools students in Lagos, which is holding at the outdoor court of  Unilag International School, Lagos (ISL), feature 16 schools at a preliminary stage.

The teams have been drawn into four groups, while the top two teams in each group progress to the knockout stage.

In some of the matches decided yesterday, Sacred Heart College defeated Belina College by 39-15 points, Air Force Secondary School walked over Dansol Schools, while Supreme Educational Foundation out dunked Vicsum Private School 23-2 points.

The titanic match between Corona Schools, Agbara and International School, Lagos (ISL) could not hold due to heavy downpour that forced the organisers to postpone the match till Monday.

In today’s fixtures, Air Force Secondary Schools slug it out with Towergate School, Radiance School take on Greenville College, while Doregoes battle Marigold schools.

The tourney is organsed by House of Levi, a youth arm of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries outreach, (MFM).
