Afro Hollywood Awards: Chika Ike, Tonto Dike Tango
Two of Nigeria’s finest actresses, Chika Ike and Tonto Dike, are set to battle for honours at the 17th African Film Awards known as Afro Hollywood Awards which will hold on Saturday, 3 November at the Stratford Town Hall, 29 Broadway, Stratford, London.
The African Voice Newspaper UK, organiser of the award, has released the list of nominees. The winners in each award category will be announced at a special ceremony on Wednesday, 10 October in Akure, Ondo State, southwest Nigeria, before the main event holds in London some weeks later.
Nollywood Reel gathered that the African Actor of the Year category will be contested by one of South Africa’s leading actors, Jafta Mamabolo (famed for his role in Otelo Burning), who will slug it out with Joseph Benjamin of Nigeria (Tango With Me) and Van Vicker of Ghana.
According to Prince Mike Abiola, publisher of African Voice Newspaper UK and Chairman of the awards committee, “the awards ceremony will attract British African stars from film & television, British producers seeking collaboration with Nollywood practitioners and high net worth British Africans seeking to invest in Africa’s leading film industry.”
A distinguished and independent panel of film critics, respected for their expertise in the film industry, will decide the eventual winners of each award category.
This year’s awards, Abiola added, will be celebrating excellence in African film and tourism, and will be an opportunity to highlight the tourism development plans of African states, as the event coincides with the World Tourism Market, the leading global event for the tourism industry.
