Cultists Kill Poly Student

In what appeared to be a resurgence of cult activities in Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, a middle-aged man alleged to be a student of the institution has been hacked to death by unidentified persons suspected to be members of a rival cult group.

The victim, simply identified as TJ, was alleged to be a member of another cultist group on the campus.

The incident, which occurred in the daytime close to the office of the Rector, threw the institution into pandemonium as both the students and candidates sitting for the Post UMTE of the institution for the 2012/2013 admission scampered for safety.

The victim reported to be a HND 2 student of Banking and Finance of the institution was seen lying unconscious on the floor after the incident.

Unconfirmed report said the victim died while being conveyed to an undisclosed hospital.

It could not be ascertained why the victim was so brutally murdered but a source alleged that he was killed by a rival cult group on a revenge mission.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Fabode,who said his office was yet to be fully briefed about the incident, confirmed that the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID, has commenced investigation into the incident.

When contacted on his GSM line, the spokesman of the Polytechnic, Yunus Abdulkadir, said he was out of town and had not been briefed about the incident.
