COSON, Cool FM Settle Royalty Issues
Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s sole government approved collective management organisation for musical works and sound recordings has settled the multi-million naira royalty dispute with Cool fm.
Leading the Cool fm team was the chairman of Steam Broadcasting, Mr. Amin moussalli while the coson team was led by its chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji.
After a meeting which lasted several hours, both teams resolved the issues of royalties for the musical and sound recording broadcast by Cool fm stations across the country. A decision was also taken to withdraw the court action instituted against Cool fm sometime in June.
The issues were resolved at a meeting held at the coson headquarters in Opebi, Lagos. Also present at the meeting were Steam Broadcasting, coo, Ms Evita Moussalli, Director of Finance, Mr. Idowu Adebayo. The coson team also included its General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji, Head, Licensing, Mr. Ayoola Daramola and Mr. Victor Nwokocha, a member of the licensing team.
A similar agreement had been reached in July 2012 with Globe Broadcasting, owners of Wazobia fm, a sister company to Steam Broadcasting.
